Vredens barn - Ef 2:1-3
Vredens barn. Det er en av de beskrivelsene Paulus gir på seg selv og på alle mennesker. Det er vår tilstand i oss selv. I dagens Bibelglimt stopper mediepastor Ingvald Kårbø opp for en tekst som handler om arvesynden.

2
:Ephesians 2, verse 1 3.
3
:Once upon a time there was death, because
of the misgivings and sins of you.
4
:There lived in you such a gift in
this world, and you sought pleasure
5
:in Him who rules in heaven, the Spirit
who now works in you in silence.
6
:Yes, once upon a time
we all lived like you.
7
:We followed our desires in
our own flesh and blood.
8
:We did what our flesh and
our own thoughts wanted.
9
:And we were, by nature, the children
of the world, like all you others.
10
:In the next episodes of Bible Glimpse,
I will take you on a little walk through
11
:some verses in Ephesians chapter 2.
12
:And this chapter is a chapter that, uh,
13
:There is something about the breadth
of the Bible's description of reality.
14
:The breadth of the fact that it
describes our exhausted, lost
15
:state of being in ourselves.
16
:And the opposite, that it also describes
our eternal great hope in Jesus Christ.
17
:Chapter 2 in the Ephesians is a chapter
that actually begins with a we and a they.
18
:There are two groups he
talks about in this chapter.
19
:And there we must aim for the heathens.
20
:And we, that is Paul and the other
Jews, and the reason I say this is
21
:that later in chapter 2, in verse
11 and beyond, we will hear that in
22
:Jesus Christ the enmity between the
Jews and the Gentiles is broken down.
23
:But these first verses now.
24
:In Ephesians 2, the sin is
totally penetrating, both for
25
:the Jews and for the non Jews.
26
:That is, both for the people who
were God's chosen people, who
27
:had to share God's promise of a
land, of becoming a people, and
28
:that they would become a blessing.
29
:Yes, they were on par with the heathens.
30
:Depending on an intervention to be saved.
31
:Notice this description that is given.
32
:How are humans from the side of nature?
33
:Yes, humans are by nature
the children of peace.
34
:And this, Paul says, we were by
nature the children of peace.
35
:Like all the others.
36
:This applies to all people.
37
:If you were born into the richest,
best and most poor family.
38
:Or if you were born into a family where
39
:Sin where impurity, where demonic
power reigns at an unequal level?
40
:No matter what context you were
born into, the reality is that you
41
:are born into this world as a child
of peace, just like everyone else.
42
:The direction of our life is crazy.
43
:Our will is incorrupt in itself.
44
:We are not born with a good will.
45
:We are not born with trust in God.
46
:We are not born with a desire to do good,
to follow Him and to bow down before Him.
47
:The sin of inheritance is something
the Bible, among other things in these
48
:verses, speaks clearly and honestly about.
49
:And the sin of inheritance,
50
:This is something that I
think we sometimes forget to
51
:think about and talk about.
52
:Notice that the sin of inheritance
has nothing to do with your value.
53
:The value of man that is created by
God and willed by God, that is fixed.
54
:But what the Bible says in these verses
and underlines for us, is that you
55
:who are willed by God, you are at the
same time born as a child of peace.
56
:We are born.
57
:In a world where the direction of
our lives goes away from the Lord.
58
:Paul describes this, that people were
dead because of their sins and misdeeds.
59
:People lived in these sins, as he gives in
this world, and let himself be led by him
60
:who rules in heaven, that is, the devil.
61
:And then it says further, Yes, we
lived all as they were, we followed
62
:the lusts in our own flesh and blood.
63
:We did what our flesh and
our own thoughts wanted.
64
:I noticed three things here.
65
:The first thing I noticed was the feeling.
66
:is death.
67
:The seriousness of people living in sin.
68
:It is death.
69
:It is misery.
70
:It is hopelessness that is described
here, if this is all that is said
71
:about what it is to be a human being.
72
:Notice that we do then, that these
verses here, describe how the devil
73
:, he is the one that
works in the unhearable.
74
:He is effective.
75
:That's all.
76
:In this world, in all sin, in all misery.
77
:But this phrase does not describe the
responsibility of a single person.
78
:It's not like a single person can say that
it was only Satan who got me to do it.
79
:It was only demonic powers
that made it happen.
80
:No, it's also about our
own flesh, our own blood.
81
:That we give when we want.
82
:So our enemies,
83
:Where the enemy is both
the devil and ourselves.
84
:This may be a dark bible glimpse you get
today, but it's a realistic bible glimpse
85
:of what it means to be a human being.
86
:And to be a human being means to be born.
87
:In this world, with a will that
does not want to let go, that
88
:does not want to believe in God,
that does not want to follow him.
89
:To be dead because of
his sins and misdeeds.
90
:We have so easy to add human value,
importance and, um, yes, meaning outside
91
:outside of some labels we place on.
92
:Whether it's money, whether it's
achievements, whether it's intellect,
93
:whether it's one or the other.
94
:Ready to go?
95
:We are all on the same page,
lost in ourselves, helpless.
96
:But it's the end of chapter
2, luckily not here.
97
:And then you will hear more
in the next Bible Glimpse.
